Hi, my name is Katie Jo Sunday. Fun fact, I was also born on a Sunday! I received my PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Drexel University directly following my bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of New York University. During my PhD research at Drexel, I was supported by GKN Hoeganaes with materials, equipment, and invaluable expertise that led me to love the powder metallurgy industry.
I joined GKN Hoeganaes, in Cinnaminson, NJ in 2017 as an R&D materials scientist, focused on supporting customer projects and researching new magnetic materials. My passion and drive for material advancements paired with my friendly customer support led me to my current position as Customer Programs Lead for GKN Additive – Materials.
The best part about my day is working directly with customers to understand their material needs and develop creative solutions with our engineering and production teams. We at GKN Additive are truly advancing this technology through material development partnerships of novel AM techniques and designs.
I hope this blog provides a bit of insight into the material development projects we are working on as well as open the floor for future partnerships and suggestions. Feel free to reach out to discuss your next material solution!
